I have followed a few blogs for a couple of years now, but this One Room Challenge Linking Event is a all new thing for me! I just found about it and even though it´s over midnight here in Finland, I hope I can still be a part of this wonderful event, which is hosted by Linda of Calling it Home
The One Room Challenge is a biannual event and each round twenty designers are invited to take the challenge. They have six weeks to transform one room and every Wednesday they document the process. But even though you not a pro, you still have a change to take part in Thursdays. The idea is to take part of this wonderful event by linking your own room transformation up in the One Room Challenge-participants link page, where you find all these wonderful transformations all around the blog world!
Sounds like a lot of fun and this is just the right motivation for me to finally transform our tiny Powder Room, which we use every day. I´m glad we have really thought of doing this, because I just today found out about this event, so....I didn`t have much time to plan things before hands ;)
I´m super glad if someone new finds this little blog of mine through this event and wants to check how I´m doing. So please leave a comment after visiting! My name is Jenni and as I mentioned I´m from Finland, a little country between Sweden and Russia ;). I love to decorate, DIY and do crafts. If you want to get to know me better you can read more about me here.
So, Let´s get started!
Here is the space I´m going to transform with the help of my husband! Here in Finland it´s very common in older and normal size houses to have only one powder room or bathroom. In newer or bigger size houses or apartments it´s a different story. So in this space we have the only toilet in the house, and yes, we manage fine with only one ;). Besides that we wash our teeth there and have our cats litter box there too.
When we bought this house about five and a half years ago, this space looks almost the same. We added only a Hemnes mirrored cabinet then and a few years ago we bought a new toilet seat. That sink is awful yellowish color and the original 1970`s model, so that we must change! Also the mirrored cabinet has to go and that original light above the cabinet too.
The floor tiles are in good condition and I like them, so they are staying. I love our wood paneled and log walls. In Finland log houses are common and as summer houses very liked. Our walls have very bad screw marks though, so I´m planning to paint them. In what color, I have to do some thinking :)
We have a limited budget, around 1300 euros including plumbing and electrical work, so no big structural changes. What are our plans then, you may ask!
Well this is what I dream of!
- Noro vanity with drawers and a sink
- round mirror
- Hafa waterfall faucet
- wall lamp (not sure about the model yet ;) )
- pendant light
- Iris Hantverk toilet brush
- birch wood plank as a table top at the same level as the sink, from the sink to the back wall
- new paint to the walls
- some new towels
- baskets for organizing
- something personal
- art at the back wall
Quite a lot of things and five weeks - I better get to work after some sleep as it´s night in here at the moment ;) I tell you more about the process next week on Thursday! Please come to check what we have accomplished by then! Thanks for visiting!
See you soon!
